Oh yes it is… Almost Panto time in our local theatres
Radio Glan Clwyd’s Brenda Jones has been meeting with the stars of this year’s pantomimes. With her camera and notebook to hand, she has attended the press launch days, and is pleased to report that families across North Wales are in for a real treat this Christmas, as the pantomimes in our local theatres are set to be full of fun for all.
At the Pavilion Theatre in Rhyl, audiences can look forward to seeing ‘Peter Pan’ between 9 December 2016 and 7 January 2017. It stars Mark Little (Joe Mangel from Neighbours) as Captain Hook, Derek Moran as Peter Pan, and actor Sean Jones – who has been touring the length and breadth of the UK in the latest tour of ‘Blood Brothers’ – as Smee. This will be Sean’s fifth consecutive pantomime in Rhyl, and he’s looking forward to performing at the Pavilion Theatre again, especially as he is originally from Denbigh!
From 10-31 December, ‘Aladdin’ is this year’s pantomime at Venue Cymru in Llandudno. Welsh Rugby star Gareth Thomas plays the Genie of the lamp, and he works hard to make all of Aladdin’s wishes come true. The photograph below was taken at the launch of the pantomime which took place in Eirias Park in Colwyn Bay.
On the 30 November 2016, Brenda Jones will be giving away a family ticket to each of the pantomimes on her ‘Sunshine Hours’ show between 10am and 12noon. Contact the studio with your name, address and telephone number in advance of the draw in order to be entered into the competition. The competition is only open to the staff and patients of Glan Clwyd Hospital. Our thanks to both the management at the Pavilion Theatre in Rhyl, and Venue Cymru in Llandudno for their kind support with this competition, and throughout the whole year.
