26-28 May, Bank Holiday Weekend
Outside Broadcasts
The Radio Glan Clwyd Outside Broadcast Team were very busy over the bank holiday weekend, attending three different local events; On Saturday 26 May, we were at the Abergele Food and Craft Festival. On Sunday 27 May, our location was Pensarn Promenade for the ‘Corvettes Along the Coast’ event. And on Monday 28 May, we were at the annual Prestatyn Classic Car Show.
It was the inaugural Abergele Food and Craft festival on 26 May. The event, which took place at the Pentre Mawr Park in Abergele, was attended by thousands of people who came from far and wide to enjoy the day. The chief organiser, Debbie, was delighted with how the day went, and was pleased to see so many people enjoying themselves. Town Mayor Cllr Mike Bird opened proceedings at 11am. There was a dog show, supported by Cafell Canines at 12.30, demonstrations by local chefs throughout the day, and numerous stalls to peruse. Andy Hayes, Ceri Jones, Wyn Meirion and Glyn Evans were on duty for the Radio Glan Clwyd team.
On 27 May, we were at Pensarn Promenade for ‘Corvettes along the Coast’. The event was a celebration of American cars, namely Corvettes, and was very well attended in spite of the rain! All funds raised on the day were in aid of Hope House. Many of the car owners have travelled a long way to take part in the event, and had clearly put lots of time and effort into preparing their cars for the day. Radio Glan Clwyd presenters Andy Hayes, Ceri Jones, Carl Sauer and Angie Sauer provided the soundtrack and commentary throughout the day, and challenged visitors to come up with as many songs as they could relating to cars and driving!
On bank holiday Monday, we were at the annual Prestatyn Classic Car Show. The event has grown year on year, and as well as the classic cars, visitors enjoyed live performances, competitions, and demonstrations. Radio Glan Clwyd were located on the vicarage car park. Presenters Brenda Jones, Andy Hayes, Ceri Jones and Glyn Evans took care of business for Radio Glan Clwyd, playing the music throughout the day.
