Guests Galore at Radio Glan Clwyd!
At Radio Glan Clwyd, we are very lucky to be able to attract a wide range of guests to our studio, to be interviewed by our team of presenters.
Peter Higson OBE (photograph above) is the chairman of the Betsi Cadwaladr University Local Health Board. He was pleased to be able to join Brenda Jones on the Sunshine Hours show on 15 March 2017. Brenda started by asking Peter all about his career, how he became the chairman, and what the role entails. He started working in the NHS back in 1977 at the former North Wales Psychiatric Hospital in Denbigh. In 2013, he was awarded his OBE for services to health, education and support for veterans. Peter also took the opportunity to share some of his favourite tracks with the listeners, including some 70s classics! Brenda looks forward to welcoming Peter back to the studio a little later in the year.
On 22 March, Brenda’s guest was certainly no stranger to her! It was her very own son, Leslie Parker Jones. Leslie is the acting manager for the charity, ‘Autism Initiatives’ based in Denbigh. He and his colleague Rachel Griffin, who is responsible for fundraising at the charity, joined Brenda on air to talk about Autism, and to raise awareness of the condition, which affects around 700,000 people in the UK. Leslie described a recent coffee morning and public auction which took place in Colwyn Bay. The event was a great success, and all of the proceeds will go towards helping support children with Autism. Rachel told Brenda about what her role involves and about some of the other fundraising events which are to come.
Dr James Davies MP joined Brenda on 5 April 2017 between 10 and 12noon. Dr Davies is the Conservative MP for the Vale of Clwyd, and is a member of the Health Select Committee. He has recently taken part in a Channel 4 ‘Dispatches’ documentary programme about the effects of too much sugar in our diets, and has also visited the European Parliament in Brussels as part of a ‘Brexit’ visit.
