Latest News – February/March 2017
Brenda Jones has been busy interviewing guests once again this year, with Ann Jones AM, and Richard Jones, Marketing Manager for Venue Cymru, both dropping in for a chat on her Sunshine Hours Show.
On Wednesday 11 January, Richard Jones talked to Brenda about the 2017 programme at Venue Cymru in Llandudno, and was pleased to announce numerous top musicals, big name acts, and exciting concerts. Highlights this year include ‘Ghost the Musical’, Billy Ocean, Marti Pellow, Daniel O’Donnell, ‘Sister Act’, ‘Footloose the Musical’, Little Mix, and Jane McDonald. Since the interview, Brenda has been to Venue Cymru to see the show ‘Sunny Afternoon’ which tells the story of the Kinks and features many of their big hits.
Brenda described the performance by saying, ‘it was such a good show, the cast deserved the two standing ovations that the audience gave… and my son and I were humming the songs all the way home!’
More recently on Wednesday 22 February, Brenda interviewed Ann Jones AM. Ann represents the Vale of Clwyd in the Welsh Assembly, and has done for many years. She is also the honorary president of Radio Glan Clwyd. Ann told Brenda about why she is still as determined as ever to represent local people, and make our area the best it can be. Brenda and Ann also joked about their childhood memories, and enjoyed music by famous Welsh artists including Tom Jones, Bryn Terfel and Duffy.
Out on the Road…
Many thanks to everyone who has contributed to our collections in the local area so far this year. We are a registered charity and rely on fundraising events like our roadshows to keep the radio service going for the patients of the hospital and the listeners within the local community. On 7 January, we were at the Tweedmill Shopping Outlet in St Asaph, and on 21 January, we spent the day at Tesco in Abergele. Both collections were a great success and the money raised will help us to replace some of the very dated studio equipment. Roadshows to come:
19 March – Tesco in Prestatyn
1 April – Homebase in Mold
8 April – Lidl in Colwyn Bay
