Latest News from Radio Glan Clwyd
The Radio Glan Clwyd team have been out and about over the past few weeks, playing requests and collecting donations. On Thursday 14 April, the team were based at Morrisons in Denbigh, where they collected a total of £170.21. On Saturday 16 April, a further £193.30 was collected at Asda in Kinmel Bay. Many thanks to all of the shoppers who contributed to the collection, and to the Radio Glan Clwyd members that gave up their time to take part and help out. We are now looking forward to our summer season of roadshows… More details to follow!
Many thanks to Richard Jones, marketing manager at Venue Cymru in Llandudno, who joined Brenda Jones on the Sunshine Hours show on 13 April 2016. They talked all about the forthcoming shows, including the Sound of Music (14-18 June 2016).
Presenter Brenda Jones has also been busy with the Rhyl and District Musical Theatre Company. They are performing the show ‘9 to 5’ at the Pavilion Theatre in Rhyl between 18 and 21 May 2016. Brenda was invited to watch a rehearsal of the show, which features the music of Dolly Parton, and she will be interviewing members of the cast on her show in the coming weeks.
Here is a short extract from Brenda’s review of the rehearsal;
‘All I can say is – it was fabulous! The acting and singing was as terrific as always. The four leads – George, Jessica, Corrine and Amy were outstanding. From the minute the performance started, I could not take my eyes off them all. There are so many funny bits, you will not be able to help but keep smiling whilst you are watching this show’.
More details can be found here. The cast are full of smiles as they rehearse (photo below).
On 17 June 2016, we are holding a special fundraising evening. There will be stalls, refreshments and entertainment including live music and comedy. The event is going to take place at the Little Theatre on Vale Road in Rhyl between 7.30 and 9.30pm. Tickets are available on the door – £5 adults and £2 children. All welcome! Please support this event, as Radio Glan Clwyd is a registered charity, and we rely on the income raised from events like this to keep the radio service going.
