Studio Grand Opening – December 4th 2015
As part of the redevelopment of Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, the radio station have moved from their base on the first floor, to a new complex in the Estates Department.
Over the past few months, the volunteers have been working hard alongside the hospital contractors to facilitate this move. This will be the new main base for the time being. It is made up of a spacious studio, office area, and entrance porch.
Radio Glan Clwyd presenters have been receiving refresher training on the equipment, and have been getting to grips with the range of new jingles and promos. You will have heard some of the shows back on air already, and can look forward to the full schedule resuming in the coming weeks.
On Friday 4 December 2015, Ann Jones AM (Radio Glan Clwyd President) and Simon Dean (Chief Executive of the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board) were on hand to cut the ribbon and officially open the new complex. They were then joined by some of our volunteer presenters and ward visitors to enjoy afternoon tea.
As part of the new hospital foyer design, a second studio is going to be built. Once ready, this will then become the main studio. At that time, it is planned that the complex in the Estates building will be used for training, recording, storage and as a back up.
A big thank you to the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board for their continued support, and to every single person who has worked so hard to get the new studio ready, including committee members Chris Reeves and John Beviss in particular.
