Roadshow Round Up – Summer 2016
So, have you spotted our Roadshow Team this Summer? Full marks if you have, because our team have been busy attending summer events and undertaking bucket collections across the region. And although we may not have enjoyed the wall to wall sunshine that we might like at this time of year, our roadshow team have brought joy to the region through playing the music and entertaining the crowds at numerous community events.
On Sunday 21 August, we took part in the Pensarn Prom Day. The attractions included a dog show organised by the Merlin Animal Rescue Centre, Sand Art, Emlyn’s Amazing Animal Show, and bird displays by the ‘Lord of the Wings’ group. There were also a range of stalls, charities, games and entertainers across the field. Children could have a ride on the fairground, or even on the vintage fire engine. Presenter Andy Hayes took his turn in the driving seat, meanwhile, presenter Brenda Jones asked lots of questions about the spinning and weaving. Presenter Glyn Evans was challenged to hold a Burmese Python that was on display – and declined, so it was left with it’s owner. The photos above and below give you an idea of what a success the day was.
In other events, we must extend a big thank you to the management and the generous customers of the Tweed Mill Factory Outlet in St Asaph. This summer, we undertook bucket collections at the site on 21 May and 30 July. Funds raised through these collections are essential, as we are a charitable organisation, and we rely on donations in order to keep the radio station going. Below (left), Glyn and Olga attract the crowds with their dance moves whilst Leslie, Eugene and Olga collect that cash (right).
We’ve also attended events in Prestatyn – we were at the fantastic Classic Car Show on 30 May, and at the Summer Carnival on 23 July.
We have also been in Rhyl this summer – Thanks to everyone who came to see us at the big fun day at the Botanical Gardens on the 10 July, which was well attended.
If you are organising a community event, why not contact us and see if we can support your occasion in return for a donation. Email firstname.lastname@example.org.
