Bucket Collection at Matalan, Rhyl
Over the weekend of 19/20 March, the Radio Glan Clwyd team undertook a collection outside Matalan in Rhyl. This weekend marked the release of Matalan’s new summer range, and Radio Glan Clwyd were on hand to play summer sounding tracks, and promote the special offers that were in store.
Across the weekend, it was radio station members Tony, Alan, Brenda, Lesley, Phil, Andy, Dewi and Glyn that took turns to choose the songs, read the announcements, and most importantly shake the buckets in order to encourage the shoppers to part with some spare change! In the photograph above, member Tony Mannix stands on duty in the store foyer. Below, the outside broadcast vehicle parked up (left) and members Andy, Lesley and Glyn working hard (right).
Radio Glan Clwyd is a registered charity. We rely on fundraising events such as this to bring in the money needed to keep the station on air. Maintaining the studio, paying all of the fees and licenses, and providing the target tuned radios and earphones for the patients costs a significant amount of money.
The grand total raised was £139.05. A big thank you to the management and staff of Matalan in Rhyl for their kindness and hospitality, and to each and every person that contributed to our collection.
