Summer 2017 – More News from Radio Glan Clwyd
Special Guest – Chris Ruane MP
On Wednesday 2 August, Chris Ruane MP was in the studio, being interviewed on the ‘Sunshine Hours’ Show with Brenda Jones. Chris selected a mixture of songs that were played on the radio, from the 60s, 70s and 80s, and he shared his memories of the local area from days gone by. Brenda also quizzed Chris about his work as an MP, and Chris spoke about how proud he is to represent our area once again in parliament after regaining the seat earlier this year from conservative MP Dr James Davies.
Chris has attended many events in the local area this summer, and our outside broadcast team have bumped into him on a few occasions! You can follow Chris Ruane on Twitter (@ChrisRuane2017) to find out about what he’s been up to.
Our outside broadcast team have been very busy, attending events such as the Rhyl Carnival (22 July), the Prestatyn Carnival (22 July) and the 999 Awareness Day in Holywell (5 August). We have also undertaken bucket collections at the Tweedmill Factory Outlet in St Asaph (29 July) and at Tesco in Ruthin (4 August).
At the Rhyl Carnival, Radio Glan Clwyd’s Tony Mannix is announcing the fancy dress competitors whilst the carnival queen and committee members make their decisions (above, left) and the ‘bonny baby’ competition takes place with many trophies to be won (above, right).
At the Prestatyn Carnival, Mayor Gerry Frobisher and his consort enjoy the day (above, left) and Gaz, Glyn, Tony and Ceri are on duty for Radio Glan Clwyd (above, right).
At Tesco in Ruthin, Andy Hayes takes care of the music (left) whilst Eugene and Marilyn read out the special offers (centre) and Tony and Ceri collect the donations (right). A big thanks to everyone for their support.
Annual Raffle – 1st October 2017
We are giving away cash prizes of £500, £100 and £50 in our Annual Raffle, which is due to be drawn on Sunday 1 October 2017. Tickets are £1 each, and are available most Thursday evenings from the foyer of Glan Clwyd Hospital. A big thank you to our hard working members who are selling the tickets, and best of luck to everyone who has already purchased a ticket!
If you have at least two hours per week to spare, why not join the Radio Glan Clwyd team, either as a presenter, ward visitor, or fundraising assistant. Full training is given and a DBS check is undertaken on all applicants. We are particularly looking for presenters that could take an evening slot, and people that could host a radio show in Welsh. If you would like to find out more, email us on firstname.lastname@example.org. Some of our current presenters aren’t quite up to scratch (see below!)….
