Welcome to Radio Glan Clwyd
Number one in North Wales for Hospital and Community Radio
Tune in online or on 1287AM across Denbighshire
We are a volunteer run radio station serving both Glan Clwyd Hospital and the local community. We broadcast a mixture of music, news, information and entertainment twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, according to our programme schedule.
We currently have around thirty volunteers who undertake all of the tasks required to successfully run a radio station such as presenting programmes, selling raffle tickets, visiting the patients on the wards, administration, technical support and leading outside broadcasts. If you think that you could support Radio Glan Clwyd in any way, please contact us – we are always looking for new members!
The radio station started broadcasting in September 1976 at the Alexandra Hospital in Rhyl, playing music for the enjoyment of the hospital patients. In 1980, once Glan Clwyd Hospital in Bodelwyddan opened, the radio station moved to it’s new base on the first floor of the brand new hospital. Since 2013, we have been broadcasting using a community radio license, which means that our remit now includes not only listeners at Glan Clwyd Hospital, but also in the local areas of Bodelwyddan, Kinmel Bay, Towyn, Abergele and Pensarn. Find out more about the history of the radio station by visiting the timeline page. In 2016, we moved to our current base within the Estates department at Glan Clwyd Hospital. Our complex is made up of a reception room, office and studio.
